The Mets dropped a rain shortened contest against the Cleveland Indians today. Oliver Perez struggled in the 5-2 loss giving up seven hits and allowing four runs in the fourth inning.
In a positive sign, Carlos Beltran blasted a solo home run.

Pedro, Mets hammer Nats, 8-2
The Mets outstanding spring continued as the Amazins beat up the Nationals 8-2 to improve to 16-7-1. Pedro was sharp again going five innings with four strikeouts and surrendering just two runs on five hits. He also threw 71 pitches with no problem (a very good sign).
The bullpen also came through, the combination of Rincon, Feliciano, Schoenweis and Wise (I know, sounds like a law firm), teamed up for four scoreless innings.
The offense came from David Wright, 3 hits including a Home Run, Carlos Beltran, 2 hits and Jose Reyes, 2 RBI.

Positive signs in Mets win!
The NY Mets defeated the Detroit Tigers 7-4 this afternoon at Legends Field. The game featured some positive signs for our team. Most significantly Pedro Martinez threw four scoreless innings. He gave up no runs on four hits with four strikeouts and appeared to have excellent command of his pitches. Lets hope this is just the start for Pedro.
Jose Reyes scored after leading off the home first with a triple and also drove in a run with a sacrifice fly. Carlos Delgado may be getting back to form, after homering Yesterday he hit an opposite field double in the 3rd.
While there still are questions surrounding the team I feel as if some key players are starting to get it together. With still a couple of weeks left till opening day lets hope for continued
improvement.
Rough outing for Santana
It was not a great day for the Mets new ace as Johan Santana struggled against the Cards. The Mets spring training record fell to 9-7-1 as the lefty gave up 4 runs in 5 innings in a 10-3 loss for the Amazins. Four St. Louis players, including Albert Pujols had extra base hits and drove in runs. Santana recorded 5 strikeouts and 1walk .
No need to panic Mets fans. Johan Santana is still Baseball’s premier pitcher and will be ready to dominate the NL from opening day on.
