Johan Santana needs to be the stopper tonight!

The New York Mets close out a dreadful four game set tonight against
the Atlanta Braves. The Braves have beaten up on the Mets pretty
good through the first three games.
Tonight’s starting pitchers will be Johan Santana (5-2) vs Tim
Hudson (6-3). The Mets need to salvage something positive out of this
series and ace Johan Santana needs to step up and be a stopper
and get the Mets back on the right track. This is where your
ace pitcher earns his money.
Mets crushed, 11-4!

The New York Mets were beaten last night, again, losing to the
Atlanta Braves, 11-4. This makes it three straight defeats since
sweeping the Yankees over the weekend.
Mets starter Mike Pelfrey struggled and didn’t receive much help
from his teammates. Jose Reyes reached base four times, aside from
that, not much positive to take out of this game.
The Atlanta Braves continue to own the New York Mets and the Mets
continue to display their mediocrity.Manager Willie Randolph caused a
bit of a firestorm prior to the series by implying that the heat he has
been taking is based on race. Sorry Willie, it is based on poor
performance by the Mets. Since you are the manager, guess what, you
take a hit for that.
I haven’t jumped on the “Willie Randolph must go bandwagon” and I am
not doing so now. But this thing needs to get turned around and
quickly. The 2008 season so far seems to me like a continuation of the
dismal end to the Mets 2007 season. That is not acceptable!

Mets top Braves, 4-3!

The New York Mets defeated the rival Atlanta Braves, 4-3 yesterday
at Shea Stadium. The Mets had nine hits on the day including two by
David Wright.
They also, finally got some solid innings out of the bull pen.
All good news, however, I am still very concerned by the lack of
consistency this team shows…particularly the bull pen. That said, I
will certainly take a win over the Atlanta Braves any day of the week.
Lets hope they can make it two straight today!
I just love working her picture in whenever possible…

Mets blow 3-0 lead, lose to Nationals
Remember to check out our homepage myteamrivals
The
New York Mets lost to the Washington Nationals last night 10-5. Mets
starter Oliver Perez had an early 3-0 lead, but as these Mets have
shown us too many times of late, no lead is safe with them.
As I stated in my most recent post, the Mets MUST beat up on these
weaker teams in the NL. Especially when you start out with a lead. But
in a familiar story, poor bull pen work and lack of clutch hitting cost
the Mets again.
These early season losses to weaker teams might not seem significant
right now, but just wait until September when in all probability we
will be locked in a tight race with the Phillies and Braves.
Speaking of the Braves, they are up next. Check back later today for pre game analysis.
Johan Santana’s effort not enough for Mets in loss

Today’s game between the New York Mets and Atlanta Braves put front
and center the big challenge New York faces this season…how to score
runs. Johan Santana was not the reason for the 3-1 loss. Seven innings
and one run allowed means you did your job. When the bull pen gives up
two runs in two innings and the offense can only muster one pathetic
run over nine innings (despite a double by the pitcher!), your team let
you down.
It was however a great pitching match up between John Smoltz and
Johan Santana. John Smoltz threw five shut out innings. The classic
pitchers duel provided little consolation though as the loss dropped
the Mets to 2-3 on the season. I don’t want to make too much out of
only five games, but we all remember how last season ended. We
heard reports from Florida about renewed focus, attention to
detail and a strong desire by Mets players to make up for last
years monumental collapse….so far, not looking like much has changed.
I sincerely hope I am making too much of this…I just expected more
early on.
Anyhow, on a brighter note the home opener is upon us! On Tuesday,
April 8th…yes folks this Tuesday, the Mets play their final opener at
Shea Stadium. The Philadelphia Phillies…also losers today (sorry had
to say it)…come to pay a visit. The starters will be Jamie Moyer for
Philly against the Mets Oliver Perez.
Lets go Mets!
Mets wasting Santana’s performance

Johan
Santana is pitching great so far…six innings, one run. However in the
seventh the New York Mets are yet to score a run. In fact, Santana, who
hit a double in the third might be their best offensive weapon to this
point!
Please can someone…anyone, hit the ball!!
Mets stink it up in Atlanta!
Not much to say..an 11-5 loss to the Atlanta Braves of all teams.
The New York Mets were basically dreadful in terms of starting
pitching, relief pitching, defense, offense…lets see have I left
anything out??
Just one of those days I guess. Hopefully Johan Santana will get the Mets back on track today at 1:35.

In the meantime, here is my recommendation for Mets fans to deal with the game yesterday:
